SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Engineer, Cathodic Protection provides engineering services to safely support the operation, maintenance, improvement, and expansion of SaskEnergy and TransGas cathodic protection systems and associated facilities. This includes applying sound engineering and industry principles, standards, practices, technology and identification and recommendation of effective business solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives.
Position Details
This position is permanent full time non-union role.
Key Accountabilities
Support multiple projects which includes executing cost estimate and control measures, development of design scopes, procurement of design services and materials.
Work with contractors and consulting resources to coordinate project activities with internal and external groups.
Prepare, review and approve detailed designs that may include complex, multi-year or multidiscipline projects to accommodate, system improvement and expansion for company distribution, transmission, compression and storage systems. Ensure designs are in accordance with approved engineering practices, procedures and corporate standards.
Provide occasional technical support to internal groups relative to cathodic: design, operation, standard practices and/or systems through the application of engineering principles in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of technical problems.
Participate in the development of new technology, products, standards, procedures, processes and specifications ensuring new solutions are change managed and are reflected in future designs, comply with industry standards, specifications and best practices.
Prepare and deliver training relative of cathodic engineering solutions, processes and procedures.
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices.
Assist with the development of plans and business cases to optimize systems, technologies and facilities while challenging current practices for capital strategic and operational projects.
Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Electrical, Electronics preferred, other may also be considered).
Professional Engineer Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
Five (5) years of related industry experience.
Certification in NACE Design Criteria & Corrosion Standards would be considered an asset.
Familiarity with industry standards outlined CSA Z662 Ch 9.
Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
An Engineer-in-training may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
A Class 5 Driver's License is required.
