Job Description


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY Responsible for assigned engineering projects within the Brockville plant, including feasibility studies, capital project management, production improvement initiatives, compliance improvement initiatives, and day to day internal customer support of the manufacturing and packaging operations. Includes development of proposals, procurement, installation and qualification of equipment and or packaging processes. Projects will encompass new or modified production equipment, facility equipment, or new or changes to a packaging process. Continuous Improvement and accountability for improvements is key to the success of the individual in this role. They will be a champion of quality improvement, cost reduction, productivity increases and will be key in coaching and mentoring others to follow suit. Internal

Contacts outside the Company are with contractors, suppliers, government agencies, customers and consultants for the purpose of obtaining information, interpreting company policy and requirements, ordering work to be done and equipment to be purchased, etc. SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Provide technical expertise in the selection, design, layout and optimization of manufacturing equipment and systems for pharmaceutical products.
  • Coordinate and supervise the installation of projects including all requirements for contractor and colleague safety, GMP, and the environment.
  • Acts as project lead and key contributor in the design and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Provide leadership and effective solution creation to work through ambiguity/incomplete information.
  • Review, recommend, initiate, implement solutions for safety issues regarding production equipment, and facility with approval.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Partner with customers, both internal and external to deliver optimized manufacturing solutions.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging technologies in manufacturing and packaging technologies and make recommendations on their application to improve safety and profitability of operations.
  • Provide technical consulting assistance related to equipment specifications, project reviews, installation, commissioning, start-up, testing, troubleshooting and optimization to support project and plant objectives.
  • Review and recommend appropriate equipment and systems for new capital projects and existing installations to ensure that they comply with known safety best practices, applicable codes, and standards.
  • Provide technical support and leadership to teams with members involving operations management, maintenance, and engineering to achieve manufacturing excellence.
  • Anticipate internal (Operations)customer needs and proactively create new solutions that exceed customer expectations.
  • Act as a mentor, offering advice and guidance to colleagues.
  • Must be a decisive, goal-oriented, self-starter, capable of independent decision making and possess the ability to successfully meet targeted goals, on time and within budgetary constraints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills suited to working with multi-disciplinary teams to solve process optimization challenges
  • Demonstrated application of sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation in handling complex technical assignments and integrating those solutions with business needs into decision making with minimal supervision.

EDUCATION//QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience of industrial mechanical engineering experience (Electrical, Controls, Industrial engineering or related disciplines.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment (mixing, pumping, filling, capping, sealing, vision detection systems)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sizing, design, fabrication, troubleshooting, failure analysis, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), production measurements and safety requirements of processing and packaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of general mechanical technology such as strength of materials, machine design, fluid mechanics and materials of construction.
  • Experience with control systems and troubleshooting and PLC programming in particular.
  • A proven track record of a strong mechanical aptitude, analytical problem-solving skills, project management and creativity.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to instill confidence in customers and peers
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to train and work effectively with all experience levels.
  • Proven ability to influence others towards positive change, both inside and outside the direct chain of command.
