The Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto is a research-led Faculty, educating the next generation of leaders in information scholarship and the information professions, both established and emerging. Our researchers and graduates are recognized for their innovation, experimentation, human-centred perspectives and commitment to community.

The Faculty, which will celebrate its centenary in 2028, has built on its heritage strengths in libraries, archives and museums to incorporate scientific and technological expertise from engineering, computer science, and other disciplines. At the same time, it has committed itself to applying social, political, and cultural perspectives from media arts, humanities, and social science to the study of information, technology, people and the relationships among them.

The Faculty currently offers two Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree programs, namely, a Master of Museum Studies (MMSt), and a Master of Information (MI), as well as a Combined MI/MMSt Degree Program (CDP) . The Faculty also offers a PhD program and in 2019 it introduced a Bachelor of Information (BI) program.

MI Students can specialize in one or two concentrations including Archives and Records Management, Library and Information Sciences, Information Systems and Design, User Experience Design and Human-Centred Data Science.

A top tier school, the Faculty of Information is consistently ranked in the top five Library and Information Management graduate programs by the QS world university rankings. The QS rankings include both Master\xe2\x80\x99s and PhD level programs.

Your opportunity:

As a member of the external facing Employer Engagement Team, under the general supervision of the Manager, Co-op, Careers, and Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), and in collaboration with members of the internal facing Career Advising Team you will build and cultivate relationships with employers, alumni and community partners providing outstanding service delivery to professionals across a wide spectrum of industry, non-profit, government and other sectors by ascertaining both their immediate and long-term needs while seeking alignment with the Faculty\xe2\x80\x99s vision, mission, values and WIL goals.

Independently, and in consultation with colleagues and partners, you will connect with employers and partners to engage them with our Faculty for WIL opportunities for our students. This would include navigating them through the career ecosystem from posting opportunities and hosting events such as employer information sessions, networking events and career panels and fairs, through supporting events, activities and programming to contract administration.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Keeping well-informed on best practices for developing student placement and work-integrated learning opportunities
  • Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
  • Analyzing data to determine trends and recommend target markets
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
  • Ensuring contracts and agreements are consistent with University standards and guidelines
  • Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
  • Conducting detailed labour market analysis to inform program and partnership development
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience in a university career centre, co-op, or recruitment setting developing and maintaining relationships, including active outreach
  • Experience managing effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders (including employers, alumni, students, staff and faculty)
  • Experience in employer development and knowledge of best-practices
  • Proven ability to handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously, and ability to independently prioritize own work flow
  • Strong relationship cultivation, building and management skills with a customer service-oriented focus
  • Excellent organizational, and time management skills to cope with multiple projects and events occurring within short and overlapping time periods
  • Strong written communication skills (e.g. report writing; drafting content for marketing materials) and the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with a diverse student population in order to meet the needs of students
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with partners and work cohesively as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ability to source information and data using the Internet and social media sites such as LinkedIn
  • Broad knowledge of labour market trends
  • Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
Assets (Nonessential):
  • Exposure to relationship management databases (e.g. Symplicity)
  • Experience with Work Integrated Learning contract development, administration and university approval process
