Nechako began production in 1969, purchasing rough lumber from bush mills located around the Vanderhoof area. With the addition in 1973 of the L&M Lumber sawmill, the site focused its supply chain on the abundance of small profile timber that was available as a result of large scale clearing of agricultural land in the Vanderhoof area. The sawmill has maintained its dominance in small diameter timber processing, utilizing a products previously piled and burned, creating value and reducing waste. In 2017, L&M Lumber merged into Nechako Lumber Co. Ltd.
In addition to the lumber manufacturing operations, Nechako Lumber Co. Ltd. operates Premium Pellet Ltd which turns sawdust and planer shavings into wood pellets for domestic heating and power production; and Nechako Green Energy which produces heat and electricity for the site

The Opportunity - Energy System Operators
Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer, the Energy System Operators are responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Heat Plant and the ORC. Nechako Lumber's Energy system consists of a GTS thermal oil furnace and an ORC turbine generator. The furnace provides heat to the kilns to dry lumber and ORC aka organic rankine cycle turbine generator, that is rated for 2 megawatts production.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate the Thermal Oil and ORC Plant
Perform walk-through inspections and record logs
Perform routine maintenance on the system
Track issues with the plant and review with Chief Engineer
Participate in safety meetings when required
Inspect all regulated equipment and systems at the beginning of shift.
Role Requirements
We are looking for an individuals with 4th class steam ticket. Previous industry experience will be considered and asset.
As the successful applicant, you will have proven safety management and leadership skills, excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Strong business acumen with the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. Solid analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Excellent computer and software skills, preferably with a knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
