Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Director, the incumbent will be responsible for leading and coordinating implementation of energy and utility conservation projects and standards. The incumbent will do this by identifying, investigating, and implementing various options for saving energy, and providing energy project support to various healthcare facilities. The incumbent will also track, analyze, and report on energy and utility consumption of healthcare facilities in Manitoba. May coordinate energy projects and programs for Shared Health managed facilities.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years\' experience in large organizations or institutional facilities involving capital and maintenance projects required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Degree or Diploma from a recognized engineering, technologist or technician training program required.
  • Formal training in energy management is an asset.
SPECIAL TRAINING:
  • Completion of a formal and accredited training program in energy management (eg. Association of Energy Engineers Certified Energy Manager \xe2\x80\x9cCEM\xe2\x80\x9d designation) preferred.
  • Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) training in specification writing preferred, or demonstrated experience developing construction specifications and drawings, design change directives, as-built drawings and production of Operation and Maintenance manuals.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Manitoba, or as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) required.
  • Certification as an Energy Manager (CEM) with AEE or equivalent is an asset.
  • Certification with other associations, such as Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (LEED), is an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
  • The individual must demonstrate confidence in project management, planning, project/measure feasibility analysis, design process, construction process, measurement and verification procedures, commissioning procedures, building and energy codes and standards specific to the healthcare facilities is a requirement.
  • Must be familiar with building systems, energy management techniques, project design process and construction process.
  • Must have excellent research, organizational, analytical and oral presentation skills.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to write brief technical reports and to review large volumes of technical details.
  • Must have demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively within a large complex organization.
  • Must have personal computer skills, including word processing, file/data management, basic CAD, and data base applications.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulations applicable to the work area.
Physical Requirements
  • Must have very good physical health, mental health and manual dexterity.
  • Position may require extended periods of intense mental and visual concentration, working with very detailed drawings and technical specifications.
  • Site checks may involve climbing ladders (ceiling spaces, roofs, etc.) and going into confined spaces (crawlspaces, attics, etc.).
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver\'s license and use of a personal motor vehicle for regular travel within the service area.
