Summary



The Employment & Training Program Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing programs that support employment readiness, skills development, and workforce training for community members. This role ensures programs align with community needs, funding requirements, and strategic goals to enhance economic participation and self-sufficiency.

Key Duties & Responsibilities



Develop and manage employment and training programs, including budgeting, scheduling, and reporting. Identify community employment needs and create strategies to address gaps. Coordinate with employers, educational institutions, and training providers to secure opportunities for participants. Work closely with the Long Plain First Nation HR team to identify internal employment opportunities and provide supports for community members seeking positions within LPFN departments. Supervise program staff and provide guidance to ensure effective service delivery. Monitor program performance, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with funding agreements. Organize workshops, job fairs, and career development activities. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies and community organizations. Advocate for resources and opportunities to support workforce development initiatives. Prepare and submit funding applications; maintain knowledge of funding streams and requirements at local, provincial, and federal levels, including Indigenous Services Canada.

Qualifications



Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Services, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in employment services, training coordination, or program management. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of Indigenous communities and cultural awareness is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with data reporting systems. Experience with funding applications and compliance with funding agreements. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
