As an Employment Support Lead, reporting to the Manager of Catalyst, this position works with Job Seekers and create a successful mentee-mentor relationship that will lead to successful and meaningful employment.
In this role you will you will learn and implement strategies to be a mentor who is empowering, guiding those we support through our Discovery and Job Development approach. You will interact with job seekers with a focus on observing what positive skills they bring to everyday life, with the intent to connect those skills to an employer that will benefit from them. This candidate would not only have a keen eye for positive attributes in others, but would also be able to help inspire and drive that person's professional and personal growth through mentorship and coaching.
This position is a term position for up to a maximum of 12 months with the possibility of an additional 6 months.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Completion of post-secondary education in any of the Human Services (Social Work, Disability, Vocational Therapy, etc.), and, or demonstrated experience in a Human Services Field.
Professional or Personal Experience with coaching, leadership, disability support, or mentorship.
Qualities of the Successful Candidate:
A coaching/mentoring mindset, and a desire to help people aim higher.
Ability to network, cold-call, and develop relationships with local employers.
A demonstrated ability to work independently, self-initiate, and self-ideate.
Strong communication and reporting skills.
Strong observation skills - Being able to infer key information from observing a person or process.
Personal or professional experience with supporting people with disabilities.
Personal or professional experience in job development and job coaching.
SAFE WORK:
Performing duties correctly in a safe and efficient manner
Complying with the Association's safety manual and objectives
Setting an example to fellow workers and reminding them when they fail to work safely.
Immediately reporting any incidents, near misses or injuries to his/her supervisor.
Offering suggestions that improve the safety of the workplace
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Clear Criminal Record Check inclusive of the Vulnerable Sector.
Class 5 Driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
Valid Basic First Aid/CPR Certificate.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: Up to $28.33 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
