The Outreach Coordinator, Summer Student will create an outreach plan to promote and support the employment and training programs. This position is responsible for going to community service providers, community centres, public events and spaces to gain interest in and inform others of the employment and training programs.
Developing and implementing community outreach programs and initiatives;
Work with the Employment and Training Team to Identify and build relationships with community leaders, organizations, and groups;
Promoting the organization's mission and services within the community;
Organizing community events, and supporting by creating presentations;
Tracking, documenting, and reporting on community outreach and engagement activities;
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of outreach initiatives;
Providing regular updates to management on outreach activities and progress towards goals;
Works safely, reports all workplace hazards and follows all YWCA Hamilton Health and Safety policies and procedures,
Familiar with, and adheres to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, (OHSA) Workplace Safety Insurance Board Act (WSIB), Human Rights and Employment Standards Act (ESA);
Participates in Health & Safety training provided by the YWCA;
Attends and participates in staff/team meetings;
Ensures compliance with YWCA Hamilton policies and procedures;
Maintains high level of confidentiality/privacy when working with client information;
Understands emerging trends, leading practices, industry professional standards;
Supports the YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values;
Performs other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works 35 hours per week;
Ability to use frequent medium to heavy physical effort: lifting up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs.), bending, stooping and walking.
Qualifications
Enrolled in or completed post-secondary education in Business Administration, Social Services or a related field (or equivalent experience);
Experience with developing Outreach Plans;
Strong understanding of Community Services in the Hamilton Region;
Must have current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain at own cost;
Must be able to lead and work from a feminist, anti-racist / anti-oppressive perspective for operations and strategic planning;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Must provide a current Criminal record Judicial Matters or willingness to obtain at own cost;
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and also work effectively in a team;
Bilingual English/French or other languages an asset.
This is a temporary summer position which is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Eligible applications must meet the following criteria of the program to be considered:
