The Role: Employment Facilitator (Full-time)





This role directly supports youth and young adults facing employment barriers by helping them gain job-readiness skills, confidence, and access to real work opportunities. Success in this role means seeing participants transition from uncertainty to employment pathways. The Employment Facilitator is responsible for planning and implementing opportunities and activities that focus on pre-employment and workforce skill building to promote self-sufficiency and independence. These opportunities and activities include, but are not limited to, group employment skills workshops on both hard and soft skills, one-on-one support for pre-employment skills and workplace readiness and work experience programs (such as cleaning, Trades and customer service).

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:





Create and conduct outreach and awareness raising presentations for schools, external committee meetings, companies, and other community partners. Assist in the design of innovative, engaging, low-barrier employment programs Deliver ongoing skill development and employment training sessions. Deliver programs with a culturally aware and strength-based lens to facilitate self-sufficiency. Lead and facilitate various work experience programs Support youth and young adults one-on-one, meeting at various locations across the city, with pre-employment skill building and workforce readiness. Be a liaison with families and natural supports and provide translation support when necessary. Support and encourage the individual's natural support network. Provide referrals to other Trellis supports and external services when appropriate. Support youth and young adults from various backgrounds and who are facing multiple barriers to employment, such as youth in care and newcomers to Canada. Work within a diverse and mid-sized Employment Services Team Contributing to other projects or initiatives as required.

Outcome Reporting and Data Management



Responsible for collecting necessary documents for service provision including immigration information and all intake information as required by Trellis. Responsible for monthly reporting, including data entry, success stories, activity summaries, and all reporting required by the manager. Collection of surveys and feedback from participants.

Knowledge & Skills Expectations



Bachelor's degree or diploma in Social Work, Education, Child and Youth Care, Behavioral Science, Psychology, Intercultural Studies, or a related discipline with a concentration on cultural studies. 1-3 years of experience working with vulnerable populations & youth. Culturally competent with an understanding of the immigration process and issues affecting immigrants and refugees including the impact of racism and discrimination of young newcomers. Language proficiency in multiple languages is an asset. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Ability to work in a variety of situations, develop and maintain relationships with other professionals within the community. Ability to work independently, meet reporting deadlines, and willingness to accept personal responsibility for program outcomes. Trauma-informed Current Standard First Aid / Basic Rescuer CPR. Able to work flexible hours according to the needs of the youth, including some evenings and weekends. Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Welfare Intervention Check (prior to hire considered an asset).

Reporting Relationship:





This position directly reports to the Program Manager of Employment Services.
