Employment Counselor
by guiding clients through personalized assessments, actionable return-to-work plans, and ongoing support. With a focus on client-centered solutions, you'll leverage outreach, virtual, and WorkBC Centre services to empower job seekers to overcome barriers and achieve lasting employment success. Our selected candidate will collaborate with clients to create and update personalized return-to-work action plans, including resume development and job coaching. They will administer and track financial supports in line with WorkBC policies, assist clients in applying for suitable training and intervention programs, and develop targeted marketing strategies for job placements. Additionally, the role involves providing one-on-one support for self-marketing efforts and managing client records in accordance with funder requirements. The counsellor will also produce reports and ensure all performance and outcome targets are met.
Qualifications
==================
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a post-secondary education in social services or a related field, along with at least two years of experience in employment counselling; equivalent experience and training may be considered. A Career Development Practitioner certificate is an asset, and proficiency in a second language is highly preferred (Spanish, Tigrinya, Somali). Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software, including ICM, are essential.
The ideal candidate excels in a performance-driven environment focused on achieving sustained employment outcomes and possesses strong assessment skills tailored to client needs. They have a solid understanding of labor market trends and community services and are flexible team players committed to meeting targets. Competency in skills training process, resume writing, and decision-making is essential, along with strong problem-solving abilities. The candidate should be independent, self-motivated, and able to relate to diverse clientele, with a genuine appreciation for multicultural environments.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
