Crosswinds Employment Services has been supporting individuals in Kings County, NB, since 1995. We provide tailored, confidential employment services to individuals 18 years and over who self-disclose a disability. Our team works collaboratively with employers and community partners to foster inclusive employment opportunities.
About the Role:
As an Employment Counsellor, you will support adults with a disability in achieving their employment goals. You'll provide personalized coaching on job readiness, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and job maintenance. You will also connect individuals with community resources, workplace supports, and government programs to help them secure and maintain meaningful employment.
You will work closely with local employers - businesses and non-profits - to promote inclusive hiring and connect them with a motivated and dependable talent pool.
This role is suited to someone eager to learn and take direction, while also being self-directed and proactive in contributing to the employment services team.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct client intakes and develop individualized employment action plans
Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing resumes, preparing for job interviews, and job maintenance
Assess need for assistance such as support services, further training, and eligibility for government programs and refer clients to the appropriate services
Build and maintain relationships with employers to facilitate inclusive hiring
Work cooperatively with other community groups and agencies, and government departments
Perform administrative tasks and operate Microsoft applications to carry out duties
Ensure strict confidentiality of client information in all aspects of service delivery
Actively participate in team meetings and service planning
Qualifications:
Degree in Social Sciences or related field
Experience supporting persons with a disability is preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team
Language:
English imperative, bilingualism would be considered an asset
