Easter Seals, Newfoundland and Labrador is a charitable organization that has operated in this province since 1937. We dedicate ourselves to engaging, inspiring and empowering persons with disabilities through life changing programs and services. We began delivering employment programs 24 years ago and continue to help create inclusive workplaces.

The Employment and Educational Services Department is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team. The Employment Coordinator will work under the Director of Employment & Educational Services and with direction and guidance from the Employment Officer.

Together, they will deliver a Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS)
Program for individuals ages 15-30 who face multiple barriers to employment. This position is funded by Service Canada and Easter Seals, Newfoundland and Labrador.

REQUIREMENTS:



Understanding of and experience with:



Individuals with disabilities facing barriers to employment Delivering employment programs

Skills:



Comfortable engaging employers to hire participants Ability to create and adapt learning materials coupled with strong facilitation skills Excellent written and verbal communication Knowledge of the needs of individuals with disabilities

Attributes:



Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector Effective time management skills, ensuring program participants are on track to meet their goals Ability to evaluate risks, address concerns, and develop creative solutions

Background:



Completion of post-secondary education in Education, Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, or Health and Human Sciences /or University degree or diploma and/or vocational or technical training in a related field

ASSETS:



Experience working with and supporting individuals with disabilities Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employers, community partners, participants, staff, and volunteers Experience facilitating workshops

ACCOUNTABILITIES:



Schedule guest facilitators and instruct in-class sessions Meet with participants individually to create an employment action plan Source employers through site visits and cold calls for employment opportunities for participants based on their interests, experience and abilities Follow-up with employers by telephone, email and in-person on work progress Prepare activity reports, document program results, and accomplishments Create monthly material for program promotion and social media presence Plan, implement and facilitate training sessions as well as schedule guest facilitators, field trips and transportation Participate in weekly staff meetings
A Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check will be conducted as part of the hiring process.

Applicants must have their own transportation and a valid driver's license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00-$42,000.00 per year
