Employment Advisor: Enderby WorkBC Centre(2 days per week)

We have offices in Vernon and Enderby, and for 35 years, we have been providing services for job seekers, seniors and almost anyone who needs assistance in their life's journey. The Employment Advisor develops and maintains professional relationships with job seekers, and local and regional employers to connect program participants with job placements. The Employment Advisor reports directly to the Manager, Enderby WorkBC.

In this role, you will work as part of a multi-faceted team to deliver an employment program designed to meet the individual needs of job seekers. You will excel in this role if you have compassion and a genuine desire to assist people to reach their employment or community attachment goals.

Responsibilities



The Employment Advisor works cooperatively and confidentially with the Enderby WorkBC Centre team, with the following core responsibilities:

Job Seeker Assistance



Works one-to-one with job seekers to achieve labour market or community attachment, building on client strengths and addressing barriers Assists job seekers in becoming job-ready through assessments, exploring education, training or self-employment options, or providing other relevant supports Provides coaching to job seekers who may be experiencing multiple barriers to securing employment Builds relationships with job seekers to understand skills, experience, capabilities and employment goals Coaches clients in informational interview techniques, assessments, job shadowing, mentorship, on-the-job training, work experience and volunteer opportunities Assists job seekers in understanding of the current local labour market Arranges work placements, supports and placement monitoring for job seekers Provides ongoing support to job seekers once a job has been secured Enters relevant client notes in the Integrated Case Management (ICM) system Maintains job seeker information in keeping with privacy legislation PIPA and FOIPPA

Employer Outreach and Engagement



Gathers information about local and regional companies that is relevant to the local labour market and program participants Compiles data on employers regarding typical jobs/skills/career paths that they would be recruiting for, and current job openings Communicates labour market updates with WorkBC Centre staff Maintains professional relationships with employers and community organizations Attends relevant business networking events and tradeshows to promote program benefits to potential employers

Other Responsibilities



Provides feedback and recommendations in regular meetings of the Enderby WorkBC team as scheduled by the Centre Manager Provides regular feedback to Centre Manager on issues related to successful program delivery Attends external meetings, as required, to report and/or gather relevant information Assists with ensuring that the Enderby office is well-maintained according to WorkBC protocols Attends monthly NexusBC staff meetings in the Vernon office Committed to continuous learning and professional development Additional duties may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience



Education



A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, social work, psychology, sociology, human services, counselling, education or human resource management) Career Development Practice Certificate and/or willingness to obtain Some combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience (min. 2 years preferred)



Able to evaluate complex client needs through administration and interpretation of assessments Coaching and mentoring experience in a one-to-one client-based setting Demonstrated record of developing relationships with key community stakeholders Experience creating and delivering customized employment and job coaching considered assets

Additional Qualifications



Minimum of two years' experience working in employment sector preferred Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to engage and synthesize job seeker background, experience and local labour market conditions to generate potential options for work placement, training and/or employment Ability to build relationships, individually and with community organizations Solid foundation in Microsoft Word and Excel Experience using a database and completing data entry Clean Driver's Abstract and valid Class 5 Driver's License Clear RCMP criminal record check required
