DUTIES



The Human Resource Services Department is recruiting an experienced investigative and labour relations expert to join our team. The Employee and Labour Relations Investigator is responsible for leading and/or participating in workplace investigations of increased complexity that have elevated requirements for transparency, considerations for perceived conflicts of interest, and may perform extensive workplace assessments. The role supports the labour relations function of the team and provides internal advice and guidance in the areas of labour relations. The role may interact with students, staff and members of the public as part of its investigative function. The incumbent will ensure the investigative processes are objective, timely and within the provisions of the collective agreement, legislation and policies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g., human resources, labour relations, labour law) or an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered Experience in employee and labour relations, including providing advice, guidance and recommendations Extensive experience conducting in-depth investigations into allegations of employee misconduct, with specific experience investigating allegations of discrimination and harassment, sexual harassment, workplace bullying and toxic work environments Experience developing, maintaining and delivering training materials to internal stakeholders Experience interpreting, advising on and applying collective agreements and related legislation Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to make appropriate recommendations in complex situations Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities and meet strict deadlines Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex and sensitive information in a logical, well organized and clear manner to a variety of audiences Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop credibility and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively as a team Strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to use influence to solve problems and advance opportunities Ability to work with high independence and autonomy Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS


CPHR Designation Experience conducting investigations in a unionized environment
