The successful candidate will assist adults with complex needs in developing essential skills for employment, provide guidance on job-search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and connect clients with suitable employment opportunities. This role requires excellent communication skills, an understanding of the current job market, and the ability to motivate and support clients through their employment journey.
This position is part of a
partnership program with the Department of Opportunities and Social Development
, supporting adults in the community who face barriers to employment. Participants may have intellectual or developmental disabilities, histories of trauma, mental-health challenges, or other circumstances affecting their ability to gain and maintain work. Experience supporting people with disabilities, marginalized populations, and individuals overcoming challenges is considered a strong asset, as is education in related fields.
Key Responsibilities
Assess clients' skills, interests, and employment needs to develop personalized employability plans.
Conduct workshops and one-on-one coaching on resume writing, interview techniques, and job-search strategies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local labour-market trends and employment resources.
Build and maintain relationships with local employers and community organizations to facilitate job placements.
Track and report on client progress and employment outcomes.
Provide ongoing support and motivation to clients throughout their employment search.
Collaborate closely with the
Employability Program Coordinator
to ensure program success.
Contract Details & Hours
Term:
26 weeks, beginning October 1.
Hours:
20 hours per week. Regular schedule includes
two evenings per week (until 8:00 p.m.)
and
one full Friday each week
.
Hours may be adjusted at the discretion of the Program Coordinator or to meet program needs, including occasional irregular hours when assisting participants with job placements outside typical program times.
Compensation:
$22.90 per hour.
This is a
contracted position only
; employment will not continue beyond the contract term.
Qualifications
Relevant experience in employment services, career counseling, adult education, or related fields.
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, marginalized groups, or people overcoming trauma or mental-health challenges is an asset.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of local employment resources and labour-market trends.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
