The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada's bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams-the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety-and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. Key Activities

A 3-week program of professional development led by the NAC Orchestra and Artistic Director Alexander Shelley for up to 50 young artists from around the world, the NACO Mentorship Program requires proven support staff working with the NACO Emerging Artist Programs Manager to prepare and execute this internationally renowned program. The Program will run from June 8 to June 25, 2026.




Reporting to and supporting the NACO Emerging Artist Programs Manager, the Associate is responsible for assisting with the Program's participant body including preparing audition recordings for the selection committee, communicating with participants regarding contracts, travel, and union membership, preparing and distributing orientation materials, and coordinating rooming assignments.




The Associate will also assist the NACO Emerging Artist Programs Manager with the delivery of the 2026 NACO Bursary competition, a two-day juried event held on April 20 and 21, 2026 that encourages the pursuit of excellence on the part of young local instrumentalists aspiring to orchestral careers.


Skill Requirements


----------------------


Minimum 1-year professional experience in arts administration or school registrar setting; Classical music knowledge an asset; Previous work at the NAC is an asset; Must have excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of professionalism and tact; Must be proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Social Media; Flexibility and availability to work within an irregular schedule, including weekdays and weekends, during NACO Mentorship Program and NACO Bursary Competition delivery periods; Fluent in both official languages is a strong asset; Police security verification required.
