The Hospital



King Animal Hospital, a privately owned Equine and Small Animal Referral and Emergency Hospital, is seeking an experienced Emergency Services Liaison to join our team. Our 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility is located on 50 acres in King City and offers specialty referral, emergency, and rehabilitation services.





The Emergency Services Liaison plays an essential role in coordinating and facilitating the efficient operation of our Emergency Services department. This role supports seamless patient care by managing key administrative, communication, and logistics functions that directly impact the client experience and operational flow.




Key Responsibilities






Billing and Financial Management




Update and verify billing information from overnight services. Inform clients of anticipated cost changes when cases approach or exceed estimates. Ensure billing practices are accurate and consistent with hospital standards.



Client Communication and Updates




Provide morning updates to clients with hospitalized patients, including nursing and financial summaries. Coordinate additional communication needs such as patient photos and visit scheduling. Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries and concerns.



Coordination and Logistics




Facilitate communication between departments including Surgery, Anesthesia, and Diagnostic Imaging. Assist in creating and maintaining forms and protocols for patient transfers and consultations. Determine appropriate post-anesthesia recovery locations (ICU vs ER) and ensure smooth transitions.



Specialized Service Coordination




Submit requests for specialized diagnostic services (radiologist interpretations, advanced diagnostics). Coordinate with external specialists or facilities as required.



Patient Transfers and External Communication




Coordinate incoming transfers by liaising with CSRs and external veterinary hospitals. Gather necessary patient information and present it to supervising veterinarians for acceptance decisions.



Administrative Support and Documentation




Monitor the ER/ICU email account and ensure timely follow-up. Request and upload medical records from referring veterinarians. Maintain accurate documentation including rounding notes and clinical summaries. Monitor the callbacks list to ensure timely follow-up. Track diagnostic testing submissions and ensure results are reported by ER DVMs. Keep rounding documentation current and ensure clinical summaries are submitted to referring DVMs.



Qualifications




Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) designation preferred. Experience in veterinary emergency services or a similar healthcare setting is highly beneficial. Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues. Proficiency in administrative tasks and practice management software. Strong judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
