Your Opportunity:

As an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), you will be a patient advocate who will effectively communicate and interact with community partners and allied healthcare professionals to ensure safe and proficient patient care and transportation. To fulfill your responsibilities, you will safely operate emergency vehicles, respond to medical and traumatic emergencies and inter-facility transport requests while adhering to professional standards, medical control protocols, standard operating procedures, polices and directives. Description:

As an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), you will transport ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation; assessing emergency scenes and patients; providing simple treatments and completing required documentation including patient care reports. You will assist with ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as non-emergent transport (NET), are properly stocked and equipped.

Required Qualifications:

Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP) as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) issue by Heart and Stroke. Must be able to obtain a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator Licence, or equivalent, and a current five (5) year driver\xc2\xbfs abstract - within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing of employment. Must provide proof of certificate of successful completion of Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test by the Lifemark, or an approved equivalent test, prior to receiving an offer of employment - applicable to all applicants, including AHS employees who do not hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP and Community Paramedic). Additional Required Qualifications:

Applicants not employed with AHS must provide a Drivers Abstract that is satisfactory to AHS and have no more than 6 demerits. Applicants not employed with AHS must provide a Criminal Record Vulnerable Sector check to AHS Human Resources to prior to commencing employment. Applications may be shared with AHS EMS recruitment teams from communities other than the one listed on this posting. Successful candidate must work collaboratively with a patient, their family and members of the patient\'s healthcare team, consulting with other healthcare providers when necessary. Must act respectfully in a manner that upholds the patient, coworker and employers dignity, safety, privacy, confidentiality and decision-making; taking into account the patient, coworker and employers rights, needs, culture and environmental context. Preferred Qualifications:

Please provide a chronological resume and cover letter in PDF format. Minimum 1 year experience working as posted designation in EMS frontline operations. Demonstrate current, relevant experience as an AHS employee working in; Metro EMS, dedicated Intra-facility transport, and Suburban/Rural EMS. Candidates must be qualified to perform full operational duties as of start date.
