We have a dynamic opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join the FVRD as an Emergency Management Specialist. Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Management, a typical week could involve supporting the Emergency Management Department work plan, advancing the Preparedness, Resiliency and Emergency Program (PREP), coordinating Disaster & Emergency Management (DEM), and leading Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) training and exercises. You will also share on-call duty officer responsibilities, which includes supporting EOC activations and providing aid services to evacuees. In our dynamic environment, your strong analytical and problem-solving skills will be key to success.



The ideal candidate will possess:


Post-secondary education in Disaster & Emergency Management (DEM) and/or Local Government Administration, combined with several years of related experience in local government or an equivalent mix of training and experience; Knowledge of local government policy, operations, and DEM principles in practice, and FireSmart principles; Grant management and project management skills; High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to adapt quickly to new software; Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports, plans, and correspondence; Confident verbal and public relations skills, with the ability to engage effectively with elected officials, staff, volunteers, external agencies, and the public; The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain positive working relationships at all levels; and Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.



This exempt position has an annual salary range of $75,506 - $86,715 and is supplemented by a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
