We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for the right person to join and lead our amazing team of dispatchers in its Public Safety Department. We need a professional, detail oriented and highly motivated individual to assume the challenging and rewarding role of Emergency Dispatch Supervisor. Under the general supervision of the Fire Chief, the incumbent is a working supervisor who provides supervision to the Emergency Dispatchers and provides emergency and non-emergency dispatching services for the Fire Division, the Municipal Enforcement Division, and the Public Works Department. This position will involve some shift work, but will primarily be Monday to Friday.
The incumbent must have the aptitude to take emergency calls and solicit appropriate information from callers in a professional and sensitive manner. The incumbent must also have a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience (preferably in a dispatching environment.) To perform the work, it is also necessary that the incumbent has the aptitude to operate both FDM CAD and SCADA computerized systems. The Emergency Dispatch Supervisor will also be required to have, or be able to attain, the below listed specific vocational qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD)
  • Emergency Fire Dispatching (EFD)
  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Level "C"

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $91,498 - $110,341 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totalling $450, and a defined benefit pension plan.
