Intermediate Embedded Software Designer

Peterborough, Ontario \xc2\xb7 Manufacturing/Aerospace/Electrical Engineering

Our Aerospace client east of Toronto is actively seeking an intermediate-level Embedded Software Engineer to join their growing team in the development of new products in a variety of domains and environments within the aerospace controls and systems arena.

Responsibilities include interfacing between Systems Engineer, Customers and Design Teams in order to generate requirement documents, support architecture analysis bid processes, software design, software implementation, integration and testing, and engineering department processes.

This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

1. Analyze and develop software systems for the application of computer technology in real-time embedded control systems
2. Perform architecture, hardware, software and interfaces trade off and feasibility studies
3. Analyze and specify software development environment (SDE), software verification environment, software debugging and profiling tools
4. Perform software requirement analysis, software design, software implementation and software verification
5. Perform modeling simulation and verification of control algorithms
6. Perform software traceability analysis from system requirements to software design, implementation and verification
7. Perform and support hardware and software integration and troubleshooting at target level
8. Develop, deploy and support DO-178B processes, reviews (SOI), development plans and review checklists
9. Analyze, generate and review software life cycle data packages for DO-178B certification
10. Mentor and review the work of junior software engineering employees

Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science of Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience in multi-disciplines team setting in Software and Engineering Industries
  • Minimum 5 years\' experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems
  • Minimum 4 years of C/C++ programming experience for embedded systems
  • Minimum 4 years\' experience with integrated software development environment (SDE) and tools, configuration management systems (CM) and problem reporting tools (PR)
  • Minimum 2 years working experience on MPC55xx, ARM7 and Cortex-Mx microcontroller
  • Experience with DO-178B processes or equivalent formal certification processes
  • Working experience on formal and model-based software design and implementation methodologies and models (Simulink, SCADE)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with assembler, DOORS and control theory are assets
  • Professionally registered (P. Eng) in Ontario (or have the ability to obtain such registration within one year of employment)
