Teacher With Outdoor Education and Drama ExperienceSchool Overview: Junior AcademyEstablished in 1988, Junior Academy has built a community around the families whose children attend our school. This flexibility in determining what works best for each student is admired and appreciated by our parents.Roles and Responsibilities: Preparing daily and long-term lesson plans according to curriculum guidelines. Teaching an outdoor education program to all classes from grades one through eight. Teaching a drama program to all classes from grades four through eight. Teaching a range of subject areas in combination with another teacher which could include, Phys. Ed., Science and Social Studies.

  • Helping to implement school wide programs into teaching, such as Executive Functioning and Character Development
Developing children's interests, abilities and coordination using a variety of creative activities including art, sport and music. Maintaining productive working habits and discipline in the classroom. Supervising students throughout the day, both in the classroom and outside during breaks. Attending staff meetings and training and development sessions. Assessing and evaluating students' educational progress and abilities. Discussing students' progress with parents and guardians, administrators and other professionals as necessary. Organising, attending and supervising school activities such as excursions, school concerts, camps and sporting events. Involvement in the school's co-curricular programs. Other duties as requiredKnowledge, Skills and Attributes Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills. B.Ed in elementary education with experience. Experience and / or formal training in outdoor education and drama. Experience working in a special education environment Evidence of building a strong rapport with children and parents

Demonstrated talent for teaching, coaching, mentoring and inspiring students Proven ability to develop smooth, collaborative working relationships with parents and colleagues Evidence of strong written and oral communication and organizational skills Experience using differentiated instructional strategies and learning strategies.
