About the Opportunity
The Elementary Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering instruction based on the current BC Curriculum and the objectives outlined in
?aq?am's
Strategic Plan, using various learning methods to ensure individual student learning and provides individual counsel and adjustments to the lessons when required. Teachers are responsible for all assessment and reporting of students and communicating and meeting with parents to discuss each student's progress. This position supervises the students assigned to them on a daily basis, ensuring their safety at all times. Teachers participate in extra-curricular activities including Community-based events, as well as Professional Development opportunities.
Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for instruction of assigned grade for the school year; deliver planned curriculum, using various methods including whole class, small group, 1:1 instruction, field trips, and online/remote learning (if required) while remaining mindful of diverse learning needs of students.
Comply with ?aq?am's Education Law inclusive of its principles and regulations with specific prioritization for supporting the inclusion of Ktunaxa language, culture and knowledge and incorporating traditional teaching methods and ensuring it forms part of the educational development of students.
Evaluate student progress using formative assessment methods to monitor student learning and identify areas of strength and where improvement is needed, along with summative assessment methods as appropriate. Provide students and with feedback on a regular basis.
More About You
In order to qualify for the
Elementary Teacher
role, you must have a minimum ofa Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent and a valid British Columbia Teaching Certificate with previous teaching experience as a definite asset. Possession of Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate and additional Wilderness First Aid Certification would be considered an asset. Proof of a clear criminal record including vulnerable sector check.
Salary will commensurate with experience from a range of $68,167 - $103,000 and includes a favorable benefits package and pension plan. Hours of work are generally Monday to Friday 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.
