Position Overview: Elementary School Building Manager



The Elementary School Building Manager oversees all building operations to ensure a safe, clean, and functional learning environment. This role manages maintenance, repairs, custodial staff, contractors, and health and safety compliance (including fire safety, security, and risk assessments). The position includes hands-on upkeep, snow clearing, preventative maintenance scheduling, emergency response (often after hours), and close collaboration with school administration and staff.

Job ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Operations



Perform and/or oversee general repairs (plumbing, HVAC, lighting) Coordinate building setup and takedown for school events Schedule and track preventative maintenance (e.g., fire alarms, water systems)

Health & Safety



Conduct regular safety inspections Manage risk assessments Coordinate fire safety inspections and compliance

Grounds Management



Clear snow from building entrances and walkways Perform lawn and grounds maintenance Train staff as required Manage and coordinate external contractors for larger projects

Administrative Duties



Order supplies and equipment Maintain maintenance and safety records Perform keyholder duties and manage building access Report regularly to school leadership (Principal)

Security



Act as a keyholder Respond to building emergencies Support and implement security improvements

Essential Skills & Qualities



Strong hands-on ability with tools and machinery Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and basic construction practices an asset. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and multitasking skills Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently Ability to meet the physical demands of the role (lifting, bending, working outdoors) Willingness to work in a faith-based and culturally diverse school environment

Preferred Qualifications



Practicing Catholic Previous experience in building or facilities management within a school environment
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
