Oxford Learning South Surrey

is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys writing and editing, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas. Our program helps students with academic struggles while also developing cognitive skills - a love of teaching students HOW to learn is a must!


The Role:





At Oxford Learning, we help students improve their academic and study skills in a small group setting. Our class sizes are small with a maximum of three students per teacher. Our teachers explain and guide students through the provided material while teaching crucial learning skills and having fun. You will have flexibility in how you deliver the material to each student (in fact, we encourage that!), but you must follow all Oxford Learning philosophies and methodologies (training will be provided).



You will not be required to lesson plan or create learning materials for students - we do that for you! Your role includes reporting on concepts covered and cognitive skills discussed, monitoring and reporting on student progress, and ensuring student programming moves at an appropriate pace, all during your shift - you will never be expected to bring work home.



All classes at Oxford Learning take place during after-school hours, from 3:30pm - 7 pm or 8pm.

The Successful Applicant is:




Available a minimum of two evenings per week beginning at 3:30pm Comfortable working with students who work and learn "outside of the box" - this includes students who have ADHD, Autism, MID, Dyslexia, and a variety of LDs. Willing to commit to the end of June 2026 (summer hours also available) Not afraid to take risks and ask questions Able to commute to the centre in Surrey reliably to work in-person

(this is NOT an online position - relocation packages are not available)

Able to provide a clear vulnerable sector check before working with students

Must Haves:




Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field (third and fourth year university students with tutoring experience will be considered) Ability to dynamically teach English (or math as needed at the elementary level) to students in grades 3-8 Experience teaching or tutoring Native English speaking: excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time Ability to guide students' understanding of a variety of concepts Ability to stay calm and professional at all times

Nice to Haves:




Teaching certification in BC French written and oral communication skills Comfort with teaching high school students
