Test Lead Hand.

JOB SUMMARY



The

Test Area Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations within the test area of an electronics manufacturing facility. This role provides technical support, leadership, and coordination to test technicians and operators, ensuring that products are tested accurately, efficiently, and meet all quality standards. The Lead Hand also assists in troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and workflow optimization to support production targets. This role plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of electronic products manufactured at IMS.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



Coordinate priorities with Shop Floor Manager to distribute work and monitor daily activities of test technicians and test operators to ensure production schedules are met Perform hands-on electronic testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of PCBs, sub-assemblies, and final products using test fixtures, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and automated test equipment (ATE) Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, equipment configurations, and test results. Generate reports summarizing test findings, including any defects or non-conformities discovered during testing. Ensure all IMS processes and policies are being followed, along with adherence to quality assurance protocols and procedures throughout the testing process. Follow established quality control measures to ensure consistency and reliability of test results. Analyze test results, identify deviations or anomalies, or failures and collaborate with relevant teams to address issues promptly Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with electronic components or systems encountered during testing. Identify root causes of failures and propose solutions or recommendations for resolution Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, re-test rate, and first-pass success rate Training and experience in adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), test protocols, and quality standards such as IPC-A-610 and ISO-9001:2015 Create and write processes for testing of customer product, maintain or refine current processes ensuring they are up to date and in line with IMS policies and processes Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production Support or Process teams to resolve test failures, process issues, and design feedback. Participate in quality audits and inspections as required. Maintain test area organization, cleanliness, and compliance with ESD and safety standards Assist in the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and fixtures Identify and recommend process improvements and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity and quality of testing environment (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Encourage and foster an enjoyable and harmonious work environment Provide training and support to production operators and technicians on test procedures, equipment operations, and troubleshooting techniques. Provide support internally and/or externally regarding testing processes, procedures, or results. Address customer inquiries or concerns in a timely and professional manner, ensuring customer satisfaction and confidence in the testing services provided

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS



Education and Experience



A 4-year Degree in Electrical Engineering or a 2-year Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field (copy of Degree or Diploma to be provided to IMS before a job offer will be extended to the successful candidate) 4+ years of experience in Electronics Manufacturing Testing or related environment 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role

Technical skills



Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit theory Experience with test equipment: oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, ATE systems, etc. Familiarity with reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and test documentation Proficient in using test software platforms and data logging tools Strong knowledge of electronic components, circuits and systems. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations Proficiency in test automation, programming languages, and data analysis tools. Additional education such as vocational training, an associate degree in electronics, or relevant certifications is preferred. I.e. Certified Electronics Technician

Soft Skills



Strong Leadership, communication and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams in the company Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in the department and manage shifting priorities as needed Attention to detail and a commitment to quality Ability to work in ERP system, Word, Excel, Factory Logix, and other computer systems within the organization used in an electronics manufacturing environment

WORKING CONDITIONS



Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment, which includes a certain degree of exposure to various chemicals and fumes. Work can involve lifting of materials and product up to 25lbs. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment and safety training to operate. Repetitive hand motions and precision work requires healthy joints and frequent stretching techniques.

: Full-time, Permanent after successful completion of the 90-180day probationary period

Schedule:



Five (5) days per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, (8-hour shifts per day), two (2) paid 15-minute breaks and one (1) unpaid 30-minute lunch break

Expected start date:

Within two (2) weeks of job offer being accepted

Salary:

$27.00 to $30.00/hour based on experience and skill set. Opportunity for overtime pay after 40 hours per week
