The Role:

We have an opening for an Electronics Engineer in Robot Electronics Engineering Team. The Electronics Engineer is responsible for all aspects of electronics design from the initial concept through to production. This will include conceptualizing, designing and testing electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies as well as diagnosing root causes of field issues, and developing corrective actions for these issues. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment, as part of a highly motivated team, in an exciting new industry.

Who you are

  • BS degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar field
  • 5-10 years in hardware design roles, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility
  • Professional Engineer in good standing as recognized by APEGA
  • Experience with kW level DC power electronics (DC-DC conversion, protection circuitry, layout, etc.)
  • Experience with microprocessor, monitoring and sensing circuits
  • Knowledge and experience working with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Canbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.
  • Experience with servo drives and electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience in designing to, and obtaining, Electrical Certification through an NRTL (safety, EMI/EMC)
  • Experience with the Altium Designer and Vault electronic CAD environment
  • Excellent ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Strong initiative, time management, and organizational skills
  • Must be willing to relocate to Calgary
What we need
  • Development of PCB hardware; spec. writing, detailed design, schematic capture, layout, prototyping, design validation and handing off to production
  • Assist and mentor the other more junior team members
  • Work with certification agencies to ensure electronics meet all regulatory requirements
  • Assist with the design and implementation of the Attabotics Electronics Engineering design practices and principles
  • Provide peer reviews of the work of other Electronics Engineers
  • Coordinate with internal Purchasing staff and external PCB manufacturers
  • Diagnose root cause of product failures and develop corrective actions
