Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Electromyography Technologist to join the Electromyography team at G.F. Strong, Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Electromyography Technologist 2 you will:

  • Work in a team based environment as a sole charge in a small laboratory and is responsible for a variety of quality control and continuous quality improvement programs of the assigned area.
  • Perform related administrative duties as required.
  • Coordinate the laboratory accreditation activities required through the Diagnostic Accreditation Program.
  • Perform a variety of routine and/or complex technical functions related to Diagnostic Neurophysiology, conducting various diagnostic tests such as Nerve Conduction and Electromyography (E.M.G.) tests
  • Assist the physicians and the interdisciplinary team with the use of Motor Point Block procedures for accurate identification of the location of overactive muscle or muscle groups.
  • Record measurements, formulate technical reports for interpretation by medical staff in clinical diagnosis, enter data into a computerized database and validate and report test results in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Participate in designated area training programs, and on designated hospital committees/teams as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Graduation with a Diploma of Technology in Electroneurophysiology (British Columbia\'s Institute of Technology), two years\xe2\x80\x99 recent, related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current registration with the British Columbia Society of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (BCSET).
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Broad knowledge of Electrophysiology theory and practice within a client/family centred care model.
  • Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Electrodiagnostic Technologists.
  • Broad knowledge of Hospital policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Broad knowledge of research methodology and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with others in a consultative/collaborative method.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
