Job Description

Overview and Purpose of the Role





Reporting directly to the Manager: Clinic Operations the EMG Technologist plays an essential role in the diagnosis of health conditions affecting the muscles and nerve cells and is responsible for performing EMGs.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:




Works in conjunction with the consultant physician in the clinics setting to determine the type and extent of testing necessary to provide the most complete and accurate diagnostic results based on factors such as patient history and symptoms, tests requested by referring physician and relevant pre-existing diseases or conditions Operates and troubleshoots the EMG equipment to obtain, interpret and communicate EMG results to the consultant physician Evaluates and assesses each patient's physical condition and degree of comfort throughout the testing process, rendering physical assistance where necessary to prevent undue discomfort during the test and providing physical assistance for patients with limited mobility to assume proper positions for the testing. Monitoring, cleaning, maintenance of equipment Other duties as assigned including: - assessing, planning implementation and evaluating patient care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary patient centered care environment

Corporate Responsibilities:




Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Schroeder Ambulatory Centre Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines

Education, Skills, & Qualifications:




Licensed EMG/NCS Technician in Ontario Minimum 1 year EMG testing experience (preferred) Current BCLS certification required Strong knowledge of nervous system, anatomy, and physiology Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and adjust to patient needs Skilled in interpreting and evaluating clinical data Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities Proven discretion with confidential information; must maintain confidentiality Proficiency in MS Office and other software; must pass criminal/vulnerable sector check and provide immunization/TB records
