The role requires precision, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills to ensure proper function and alignment of intricate components.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly and Alignment: Accurately fit and assemble mechanical parts, including servo motors, gears, bearings, pivot pins, ball screws, pneumatic/electric actuators, and sensors into the system according to detailed engineering blueprints and specifications.
Reading Technical Documents: Interpret and follow complex mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and assembly instructions to plan the assembly sequence and ensure compliance with design specifications.
Quality Control and Testing: Conduct in-process and final inspections and performance tests on assembled units using diagnostic equipment and measuring instruments to ensure all quality standards are met and the mechanism functions correctly.
Troubleshooting and Rework: Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues or non-conformities at the component and subassembly level. Rework or repair defective units as needed to meet quality requirements.
Tool and Equipment Use: Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, specialized assembly equipment, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, multimeters) safely and effectively.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of assembly activities, test results, repairs, and inventory to ensure traceability and support quality assurance processes.
Safety and Maintenance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines, maintain a clean and organized work area, and perform routine maintenance on assembly equipment and tools.
Collaboration and Improvement: Work with engineers and other team members to provide feedback on assembly processes, resolve issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing and design.
Essential Skills
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, power transmission, and the interaction of components like gears, bearings, and pivot pins.
Technical Knowledge: Ability to apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, basic electrical principles (for the motor component), and control systems.
Precision and Attention to Detail: A high level of precision and attention to detail to achieve tight tolerances and ensure proper fit and alignment of components.
Manual Dexterity and Hand-Eye Coordination: Proficiency in handling small, intricate parts and using various hand tools with precision.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to diagnose faults, determine the root cause of issues, and implement effective solutions.
Blueprint and Schematic Reading: Capability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication to follow instructions, document findings, and collaborate with team members and engineers.
Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing priorities, procedures, or designs in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
