Maintenance Department



Full-time (12 month) position



7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

The River East Transcona School Division invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Journeyperson Electrician. Under the direction of the Mechanical Supervisor, the Electrician will be responsible for maintenance and services to all electrical systems and equipment associated with these systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Provides routine maintenance and preventative maintenance to divisional electrical infrastructure, panels and transformers Routine maintenance and preventative maintenance to fans and motors Services and replaces electrical components of mechanical systems Repairs to interior and exterior lighting fixtures and equipment Services divisional time clock systems Carries out installations and alterations Repairs to emergency lighting and systems Maintains adequate inventory of material pertaining to his/her field Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:



Qualifications

Journeyperson Certificate "Red Seal" in electrical required Minimum eight (8) years' experience involving the installation, service and maintenance of electrical systems. Electrical Contractor License would be a definite asset Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of all systems and equipment that comprise the electrical field and must be capable of reading and maintaining drawings, blue prints and technical manuals Must hold a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License with a clear driving record Must provide a current driver's abstract Practice correct, safe-driving habits All staff required to complete computerized training modules upon hire External applicants must supply a Criminal Record Search, a cleared Child Abuse Registry check upon hire.
Skills and abilities

Ability for mechanical dexterity May require lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, standing, and working in varied indoor/outdoor conditions Read and write English Effective verbal and written communication skills Plan and organize daily work schedules Work under minimal supervision Communicate in a pleasant, courteous, and effective manner Recognize and practice safe work Maintain regular attendance Respect confidentiality of work Self-starter with the ability to work under own initiative and at times as part of a "Team" with minimal supervision, including planning and organizing daily work schedules.

*Hours may be adjusted to meet operational requirements during winter, spring, and summer breaks.
