Job Description

The purpose of the Electrician is to ensure the continued operation of all equipment of the Company. The Electrician is responsible for ensuring that all equipment is in safe and proper condition for operation. The Electrician will also assist to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls. all design, drawing, fabrication, construction, installation & maintenance of new projects & equipment. The Electrician works with up to 1000 Volts. The Electrician is required to work efficiently and in accordance with all company health & safety policies. The Electrician works directly with the Operations Manager, and any temporary or permanent members of the maintenance, construction & installation team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Primary Responsibilities



Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve equipment failures as well as perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems

Perform electrical repair & maintenance activities throughout the plant on equipment and facilities.

Experience with motors, hydraulics & pneumatic systems. Water heating and cooling systems. Reading blueprints and schematics. Equipment installations & rigging.

Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations

Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components

Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance

Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors

Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems

Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices

Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records

May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.

Utilize Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement to maximize equipment output and processes

Execute preventative maintenance activities including troubleshooting and repairs to all production equipment and electrical units in a timely manner

Utilize the computerized maintenance management system for processing work orders, PM's and updating the equipment databases

Support divisional and corporate objectives including health & safety, productivity, continuous improvement, innovation, quality, and waste Qualifications

Energetic and enthusiastic approach with the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and possesses a strong safety focus

Available and flexible to work in a dynamic (fast paced and sometimes slow paced) environment, be self-driven to meet or exceed targets and work a flexible schedule that includes planned & unplanned shifts.

Experience with electronics & PLCs. AC & DC motors and controls an asset.

Ability to operate specialized vehicles such as forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Secondary responsibilities



Preventative maintenance program: design, implementation and oversight with Operations Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



Industrial Electrician license / Construction Electrician certification is a must.

2 -3 years of work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment

Clean drivers abstract.

Physically fit & able to negotiate inclines, stairs and ladders able to perform physically demanding activities while working in all types of extreme hot environments, both indoors and outdoors. The job requires bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, and standing for long periods of time. Must be physically able to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs. Working in conditions may include exposure to noise, dust.

Willingness to work extended hours when and where required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
