Cape Breton University (CBU) is seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our Facilities Management team. This role is a Full Time Continuing position.The role involves performing maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and components across the campus. Responsibilities include installing and wiring electrical systems for lighting, power, air-conditioning, and refrigeration, as well as installing electronic equipment and signal communication systems. A comprehensive knowledge of the National Building Code and the Canadian Electrical Code is essential.In this role, you will estimate material needs for various jobs, check and replace faulty switches, sockets, and lighting fixtures, and dismantle and repair electrical machinery. You will also install and monitor equipment, troubleshoot electrical issues, and participate in a preventive maintenance program. Additional duties include assisting with campus events by moving equipment and participating in snow clearance activities when required.Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a Journeyman Electrician\'s License, with at least five years of experience in a similar role. A current First Aid, AED, and CPR certification, or a willingness to obtain and maintain certification, is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, good judgment, physical fitness, and a strong safety record.Work conditions involve exposure to various elements and require the use of hand and power tools.
