Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical components. This role is essential in ensuring that all electrical systems operate efficiently and safely within our facilities. The Electrician will work on various projects, including industrial settings, and must be comfortable working with both high and low voltage systems.

Duties:

The Electrical Officer is to conduct monthly inspections of the vessel's electrical equipment with special attention being paid to ship electrical equipment within the hazardous areas outside machinery spaces and accommodation areas. In addition, the Electrical Officer should closely monitor the proper function of deck lighting, emergency lighting, and other lighting critical to the safe operation of the vessel.

In accordance to Planned Maintenance System, the Electrical Officer is responsible for carrying out checks of ship's emergency batteries, including GMDSS equipment.

Maintenance and Electrical Isolation

The Electrical Officer is to assist deck and engine personal with maintenance tasks by electrically isolating equipment or circuitry to enable maintenance or other work to be carried out safely.

The Electrical Officer is additionally responsible for the serviceability and cleanliness of the vessel's electrical systems and equipment including but not limited to the following:

Main, auxiliary and emergency switchboardsAlternators (including the routine testing of the emergency unit) Starters and motorsCargo handling equipment (where appropriate)Electrical and electronic control equipment for engine, cargo and deck machinery Communications equipment, accommodation, lighting and galley services.

The Electrical Officer is responsible to the Chief Engineer for the maintenance and condition of electrical equipment assigned to his care, in accordance with the instructions issued by the Chief Engineer. The Electrical Officer reports directly to the Chief Engineer.
