We are currently hiring an Electrical Planner to join the team at our Underground Salt Mine in Goderich, ON.





Compass Minerals' Goderich Salt Mine, located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron, is the largest underground salt mine in the world. The mine is as deep as the CN Tower in Toronto is tall. The rock salt produced at the mine is used to keep citizens in North America safe as they travel through winter snow and ice. The salt is shipped to hundreds of communities around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Some of the salt is trucked to the Compass Minerals plant less than 4 kilometers away, to be packaged for distribution and sale at retailers in North America. The salt is also sold in bulk to manufacturers that make plastics, detergents, disinfectants and other important products.



Goderich is named Canada's Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.


HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM?





This position will be responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating all underground electrical maintenance and project activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of underground equipment and infrastructure. This position plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, supporting reliability, and maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.


Develop and maintain details maintenance plans for electrical equipment and systems used in underground mining (e.g. substations, switchgear, ventilation fans, hoists, conveyors). Plan and schedule preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance tasks in coordination with operations and maintenance team Prepare work order packages including work instructions, permits, safety procedures, material lists, and resource requirements Collaborate with EHS in the completion of job hazard assessments and risk assessments Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure parts and materials are available in time for scheduled work. Optimize equipment reliability through effective planning practices, and root cause analysis Work closely with electricians, engineers, and supervisors to ensure effective execution of all planned work. Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentations, and CMMS data. Ensure all planning activities align with health, safety, environmental and regulatory equipment.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?




Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electrician (Red Seal) certification, or a related discipline. Minimum 3-5 years of planning experience in a heavy industrial or mining environment, preferably underground. Strong understanding of electrical systems and equipment used in underground mining operations Proficiency with CMMS Experience with Microsoft Office Suit and project planning tools Excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills Strong commitment to workplace health and safety standards. Preferred:

o Experience working in a unionized environment

o Knowledge of Ontario mining regulations and CSA electrical standards

o Previous underground soft rock mine site experience is highly desirable.

WHAT IS THE WORK SCHEDULE?



This is a Monday-Friday position, overtime may be required in order to support the operations. This position is expected to work underground. If you do not live nearby, you will be required to relocate. A relocation assistance package is available to those that qualify.
