Contract Responsible Member (Electrical Engineer - Embedded Systems)

Margo Supplies is seeking a Contract Responsible Member (Electrical Engineer, P.Eng)

to oversee and supervise our embedded systems and hardware R&D projects. This role will support the growth of in-house R&D team by obtaining a Permit to Practice and expanding the scope of potential projects to engineering work. In addition to ensuring our work meets professional standards, this position will also allow our staff to grow professionally.

Your expertise as a licensed Electrical Engineer will provide professional oversight to a small but passionate R&D team developing products such as satellite tracking collars, machine-learning detection systems, and low-power embedded environmental sensors.

What Will You Do

Act as

Responsible Member (RM) for APEGA Permit to Practice

Provide

professional oversight

and sign-off on electrical engineering work within your discipline and competence Review and guide

PCB and embedded system designs

, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practices Support the development of junior staff and EITs through mentorship and supervision Assist in the preparation and maintenance of our

Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP)

Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and major product development milestones as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Registered as a

Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA

in Electrical Engineering Minimum

5 years of experience

in electrical design, ideally focused on embedded systems, PCBs, and low-power applications Available for a 1 year minimum contract Familiarity with

analog & digital circuit design, power management, and signal conditioning

Experience overseeing engineering work and mentoring EITs or junior engineers Strong understanding of professional responsibility, compliance requirements, and the Permit to Practice process Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise and collaborate effectively with a small R&D team.

Bonus If You've Got...

Embedded C/C++ firmware knowledge (ARM Cortex, STM32, ESP32, etc.) Experience with wireless communication systems (LoRa, BLE, cellular, satellite) Background in environmental, wildlife, or ruggedized product design Prior Responsible Member experience with a Permit to Practice holder.
