The Electrical Manager leads and oversees all electrical operations at our mine site in Grande Cache. This leadership role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical systems across the mine, including mobile and stationary equipment, infrastructure, and facilities.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Electrical Manager is directly accountable to the General Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Lead and manage the electrical department, including certified electricians, apprentices, and contractors.
Oversee installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across the mine site.
Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, OH&S regulations, and mining legislation.
Collaborate with maintenance planners and operations teams to coordinate daily, weekly, and long-term maintenance schedules.
Manage budgets, procurement of electrical materials, and inventory control.
Provide mentorship, training, and performance management for electrical personnel.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure operational integrity and safety.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning for electrical infrastructure upgrades.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Inter-Provincial Red Seal Certification as an Electrician or equivalent
Experience
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in electrical maintenance.
Experience in surface or underground mining operations is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, electrical distribution, and industrial control systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent needs to be able to:
handle loads over 20 kg. in weight
operate a vehicle requiring a Class 5 license
sit or stand for over 60 consecutive minutes
concentrate for over 60 consecutive minutes
work in environmental extremes for over 60 consecutive minutes
stay alert during periods of inactivity for more than 60 minutes

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent works at the CST Canada Coal Mine Site facility on an EDO schedule where the individual will work 9-hour days and get every second Friday off to help facilitate work/life balance.
This position is based in Grande Cache, Alberta. Please be advised there are no camp facilities available. The commute from Grande Cache is approximately 20 km on Highway 40 North. All employees who are based at the mine site will qualify for a Living out Allowance Benefit
Overtime and being on stand-by or ready for call-outs may be required due to the nature of the work. He/she regularly operates a four-wheel drive pickup on mountainous terrain in all types of weather and road conditions.
The incumbent is in an office setting 25% of the time and outdoors or in a shop setting 75% of the time and may be exposed to dangerous physical hazards and loud and continuous noise levels associated with working in close proximity to large surface mining equipment.
As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to comply with pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per the Drug and Alcohol Policy. Personal protective equipment will include the use of an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, protective clothing and gloves and safety vest.
