We are seeking a detail-oriented person to join our Estimating team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are accounted for. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge in construction estimating software. a
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
Organize, receive, and respond to tender invites as part of Summit Electric's estimating team.
Prepare and submit quotations on time and in full compliance with tender documents and contractual terms.
Accurately determine true project costs while identifying and mitigating potential risks.
Complete digital take-offs and Accubid data entry using Bluebeam and/or LiveCount.
Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to source competitive pricing for materials.
Assist with Accubid database maintenance, including updates to pricing and catalog items.
Collaborate closely with Lead Estimator and Project Managers at bid closing and project award.
Participate in post-tender processes such as addendums, value-engineering, and negotiations.
Contribute to both project kick-off meetings and post-project reviews.
Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and estimating best practices.
Education and Experience Requirements
Certification, degree, or diploma in electrical construction, construction management, engineering, or quantity surveying.
Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, including recent updates.
Master Electrician designation with FSR A, B, or C is considered an asset.
Proficiency in Accubid products (BW+, Pro, ChangeOrder, LiveCount).
Minimum 5 years of industrial construction experience, with at least 3-5 years in estimating or project support.
Expert-level user of Bluebeam.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
