About the Role
We are looking for a Senior or Intermediate Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Engineer or Technologist to join our team in delivering upstream and midstream oil and gas projects. These include wellpads, compressor stations, and gas plants in both greenfield and brownfield environments.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems--from design and engineering through commissioning and operations support. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to execute complex projects safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while also mentoring junior staff and upholding high standards of technical quality and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review electrical and instrumentation designs, specifications, drawings, and data sheets for oil and gas facilities.
Provide technical leadership and oversight throughout project phases--from front-end design through detailed engineering and into commissioning.
Ensure all EIC systems comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
Perform load calculations, cable sizing, grounding, lighting, and panel layouts as needed.
Oversee or support control systems architecture, PLC/DCS design, and instrumentation selection and integration.
Collaborate closely with project managers, mechanical, civil, and process teams to deliver coordinated, multidiscipline designs.
Interface with clients, vendors, and construction personnel to resolve technical issues and support field execution.
Conduct site visits and provide support during commissioning and start-up.
Support quality assurance processes and ensure technical deliverables meet project requirements.
Mentor junior engineers and technologists, promoting knowledge sharing and skills development.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering Technology.
Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng., P.Tech., or C.E.T. in Alberta.
5+ years (Intermediate) or 10+ years (Senior) of relevant experience in EIC design and execution for upstream and/or midstream oil and gas projects.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, CADWorx, Revit, or other design tools is an asset.
Familiarity with CSA, NEC, IEEE, API, and other applicable codes and standards.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Field experience, including construction support and commissioning, is preferred.

Pay: $55.00-$100.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
