AECOM is seeking an Instrumentation & Automation Programmer for a full-time position based out of our Markham, ON office. Alternatively this position can be based out of our Hamilton, ON office but will primarily support clients in the Greater Toronto Area.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide SCADA, Control Systems and Network design.
  • Develop, test and commission PLC/SCADA applications. Implement Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.
  • Prepare contract documents, including drawings and specifications, I/O lists, instrument data sheets and specifications.
  • Provide conceptual and/or detailed engineering of process instrumentation and control systems. Assist other designers in development of process monitoring and control strategies including the preparation of P&IDs, Process Control Narratives, and hardware and software design specifications.
  • Coordinate with Engineers, Designers, other CAD staff, Project Managers and others as required.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with AECOM QA/QC programs.
  • Ensure that project needs are met in an effective and timely manner.
  • Work within a multi-discipline team to design, develop and implement efficient and reliable SCADA/Control Systems.
  • Resolve site queries, attend site meetings and perform site inspections during the construction phase of projects.
  • Work with Department and Project Managers and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each project.
  • Be accountable to provide all activities in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including all of AECOM\'s policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :
  • Bachelor\'s degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or Instrumentation & Controls) + 4 years of experience in instrumentation & controls design and system integration in an industrial related field: water & wastewater, oil gas etc.
  • System integration experience - especially with Allen-Bradley Logix and Emerson Proficy Machine Edition for PLC programming software and FT View, GE iFix, Wonderware and Ignition for SCADA software
  • Driver\'s license and access to personal vehicle
Preferred Qualifications :
  • P.Eng. or eligible to become licensed in Ontario
  • 5+ years engineering design and field experience in an instrumentation & control environment in the water/wastewater industry, including field services/commissioning during construction phase of projects
  • 5+ years system integration experience - especially with Allen-Bradley Logix and Emerson Proficy Machine Edition for PLC programming software and FT View, GE iFix, Wonderware and Ignition for SCADA software
  • Experience with AutoCAD will be an asset
  • Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, PLC Control Panels, control and communication system diagrams, loop & schematic wiring diagrams, instrumentation standard details and specifications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Critical thinking to identify issues, present solutions and follow through to ensure completion
  • Capable of collaborating and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
