About the Role



We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Electrical Installation Design Engineer

to support a major

rail and transit infrastructure project (RSSOM)

in Toronto. This position involves coordination, cable routing, pathway/raceway design, installation drawings, and civil/electrical interface management in a BIM-driven engineering environment.

Candidates must have prior experience in

Rail / Transport / Power Generation / Power Industry

.

Key Responsibilities



Design and guide subcontractors on

cable routing

based on wiring diagrams within technical rooms and along the track. Define and optimize

cable pathways

, ensuring proper filling ratios and constructability. Coordinate with civil partners and internal engineering teams to resolve design issues. Ensure designs meet contractual requirements, system specifications, and

Ontario electrical codes

. Apply quality procedures across all design stages and maintain documentation. Collaborate with civil designers for integrated design implementation across disciplines. Identify risks, troubleshoot issues, and support technical resolutions during development. Represent Installation Engineering in

stakeholder and coordination meetings

. Work within a

BIM environment

, following the

BIM Execution Plan (BEP)

.

Required Skills & Experience



5-10 years

of experience in civil/electrical works within

railway engineering

, particularly construction and installation design. Strong understanding of

raceway sizing

, pathway design, and cableway installation. Experience working with civil teams and managing design implementation. Familiar with

RTM (Requirement Traceability Matrix)

and

Interface Registers

. Experience managing contractors/subcontractors for installation design deliverables. On-site construction or installation supervision experience is an asset. Strong attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines, and high adaptability.

Soft Skills



Excellent project documentation and organizational skills. Team-oriented, proactive, and solution-focused mindset. Willingness to work onsite full-time and support changing project needs.

Technical Proficiency



Required:



AutoCAD or MicroStation Revit / Navisworks Aconex, Bluebeam Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

Preferred:



Experience with 3D design tools or BIM coordination Understanding of civil coordination and construction design workflows

Education & Certifications



Bachelor's degree in

Electrical

or

Civil Engineering

(or equivalent). Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Ontario P.Eng

license highly desirable.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $75,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
