Arcane Electric Ltd. is a leading electrical contractor specializing in municipal and infrastructure projects, proudly serving Surrey, BC, and the surrounding regions. We are currently seeking a dedicated and ambitious Electrical Helper/Apprentice to join our specialized Street lighting and Traffic Signal team. Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work closely with our journey person electricians, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the installation, maintenance, and repair of street lighting and traffic signal systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assisting with the installation and termination of underground conduits and conductors. Aiding in the setup and wiring of street light poles, luminaires, and control cabinets. Supporting the installation and configuration of traffic signal poles, mast arms, signal heads, and associated detection systems. Performing routine maintenance tasks, including lamp replacement, wiring checks, and component inspection. Operating various hand and power tools safely and efficiently. Assisting with site preparation, material handling, and equipment organization. Adhering strictly to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), traffic control standards (e.g., MOTI & MMCD guidelines), and company safety protocols. Maintaining accurate records of work performed and materials used. Demonstrating a proactive approach to learning and skill development within the trade.
Qualifications & Requirements:

For Helper Candidates:

No prior electrical experience is required; a strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in the electrical trade are essential.

For Apprentice Candidates:

Enrolment in a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship program (e.g., through ITA BC) is a significant asset, with relevant work experience being advantageous. Basic understanding of electrical principles and safety practices is an asset. Ability to read and interpret basic schematics or blueprints is beneficial. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Capable of working effectively as part of a team and independently when required. Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), digging, working at heights, and in various weather conditions. Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with a clean abstract is preferred; reliable transportation to our Surrey yard and various job sites is required. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and occasionally at heights (e.g., bucket truck, ladder).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.85-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

Monday to Friday Weekends as needed
Work Location: In person
