Electrical Estimator
to join our dynamic team! This is an excellent opportunity for an ethical, quality-driven electrical estimating professional in the industrial, commercial, institutional and design build industries. Position Overview
The
Electrical Estimator
leads the internal process of estimating project costs, risks, and milestones. This role is responsible for the development of accurate and competitive project estimates to meet the labour needs of the company both now and in the future.
What You Bring
Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings and project specifications.
5+ years of electrical estimating experience in industrial, commercial, institutional and design build industries.
Field experience in an electrical environment strongly desired.
Knowledge of multi-trade disciplines.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Proficiency in Trimble, AccuBid, and/or AutoCAD are considered assets.
Ability to visualize completed building structure and how its assembled before breaking ground.
Proven communication skills through collaboration with all project stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills with focus on cost savings and attention to detail.
Team-focused with the ability to work independently, prioritizing tasks and managing time to meet competing deadlines.
A positive outlook and continuous improvement mindset.

What You'll Do
Create RFQ's and determine project scope of work, including subcontractors and equipment requirements.
Read and interpret blueprint drawings and specifications for estimating.
Assist with the pricing of change orders.
Provide innovative solutions for cost models and tools for the estimating team.
Develop strong business relationships with customers and General Contractors.
Apply valued engineering and cost saving strategies.
Tender Assessment:
Perform risk analysis to determine which projects to tender.
High-level forecasting of labour requirement for tendered projects.
Review tender timeline in conjunction with estimating schedule.
Coordination of site visits to review existing conditions and scope of work.
Communication:
Issue Requests for Quotations to relevant suppliers and contractors.
Receive and process Requests for Information.
Review tender scopes with General Contractors/Construction Managers.
Maintain relationships with subcontractors and clients.
Take-Off/Estimate:
Complete take off utilizing Trimble or Accubid.
Review specifications prior to tender.
Organize subcontractor quotations to ensure they meet contract specifications.
Assemble accurate estimates and proposals in a timely manner.
Review quotations to determine risk.
Maintain labour and material databases.
Review tender with project team.
Cost Savings/Negotiations:
Provide project budgets for future tenders.
Review drawings for available cost-saving strategies.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to quantify changes required for costing.
Document cost savings items and potential financial implications.
Project Handover:
Provide take-off reports for applicable systems.
Communicate estimate specification details to project team.
Complete job estimate detail sheet.
Identify opportunities for prefabrication based on the plans and specs, schedule prefabrication tasks.
