As an Electrical Equipment Engineering associate with Honda of Canada Mfg., you will be involved with the electrical design of new and existing equipment. In Addition: PLC programming, project theme creation, technical investigations, modify & update equipment specifications, scope creation, manufacturing, installation/construction, co-ordination, and supervision of contractors. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing counter measures for quality concerns, equipment cycle time problems, as well as providing support for Equipment Services and Production when required. You will also be supporting the project management through data collection, cost justification and budget tracking, and bidding process. * Key Responsibilities:

  • Study and modify PLC programs to increase data collection and efficiency
  • Develop Decision Analysis, Theme, and budget request documentation as applicable
  • Manage equipment development projects to meet Business plan and new model targets
  • Ensure equipment comply with all safety standards and PHSR requirements
  • Develop and implement equipment improvements to improve equipment efficiency, reliability, and recovery simplification
  • Create / modify electrical schematics using AutoCAD
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors during equipment modifications and installations during non-production hours, weekend, and shutdowns
  • Develop and confirm equipment spec.?s for new equipment installs
  • Develop and update schedules to update stack holders
  • Manage Project budgets
  • Identify and implement countermeasures for Quality concerns, Cycle time. Complete with follow up (PDCA cycle) and results
Position Requirements:
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma or equivalent related experience
  • Industrial experience in related field (Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics)
  • Ability to solve complex problems through analysis up to and including proposals/implementation of countermeasures based on actual data
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience related to the specification and design of industrial manufacturing equipment (i.e. electrical control panels)
  • Hands on approach and willingness to troubleshoot equipment issues with contractors and peers
  • Automation experience (PLC, HMI, Robot, Safety PLC's, Variable Frequency Drives, Servo Drives and Controllers, Conveyor Systems, Safety devices, and troubleshooting experience)
  • Safety PLC experience (ABB Pluto, Mitsubishi)Ability to perform risk assessments and design controls to mitigate identified hazards
  • Strong MS Office including PowerPoint and Excel
Job Related Must Haves:
  • Willing and able to support weekends, shutdowns, and abnormal shifts
  • Willing to work overtime, sometimes on short notice
  • Willing and able to travel (domestically & internationally)
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • 2-5 years? experience in electrical design
  • Demonstrated ability to improve equipment function/efficiency and counter measure deficiencies
  • Hands on approach to working on and troubleshooting equipment and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to analyze equipment downtime, determine root cause & develop countermeasures
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills (Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Project leader and management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong initiative
  • Mitsubishi PLC & GOT programming and systems knowledge
  • Safety PLC systems knowledge (Mitsubishi, ABB Pluto)
  • Machine safeguarding standards knowledge
  • Robot integration and robot teaching,
  • Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Halcon)
  • Low voltage systems (hardwiring, sensors, circuit protection)
