ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

The Centre of Expertise division of the Design and Construction Branch is looking for an Electrical Engineering Technologist for an indeterminate position. The position is classified as an R\xc3\x89-05 ($68, 641 to $91, 072 per annum).

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, the Electrical Engineering Technologist reviews drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by consultants, and assists in review and approval of shop drawings, engineering drafts, for electrical components and performs site inspections for contract compliance. They provide advice and make recommendations to project managers and design leads regarding overall adequacy, quality, and safety of electrical works. The individual assists the Senior Electrical Engineer with planning, design, production, and coordination of consultants\xe2\x80\x99 work, preparation of contract documents for small to medium sized new and rehabilitation construction projects, such as electrical infrastructure in all NCC Parks, NCC buildings, etc. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical Engineering or a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or another relevant field. CERTIFICATE / LICENSE:
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.). EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in 2D drafting, Engineering design and/or integration projects.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models (AutoCAD).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance;
  • Linguistic profile: English or French;
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The candidate must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace (40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario);
