AECOM Buildings and Places is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer - Water and Wastewater Facilities to join our team. This position will be based out of Markham, ON.

The Buildings and Places Group is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers Engineering, architectural and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for vertical construction projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, water / waste water and transit facilities.

Major Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing various types of technical memos and reports including schematic/preliminary design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documents
  • Preparing electrical drawings and specification
  • Implement design tasks through the preparation and production of engineering drawings with the scope to cover LV (600V) and MV (up to 44kV) power distribution and system protection, 5kV and 600V MCC design including application of VFD, solid state and DOL starters, processing mechanical equipment control schematics including I/O signals to PLC/SCADA system, electrical services within classified hazardous areas, building electrical life safety services including emergency lighting and fire alarm, building electrical general services including general power, control of lighting and provisions of security access and CCTV surveillance systems.
  • Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the projects
  • Conduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific data
  • Ensuring design documents conform with all applicable codes and CSA/NFPA standards;
  • Working with prime consultants, engineering consultants, and contractors; responding to technical queries
  • Construction administration responsibilities:
  • Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with reports
  • Shop drawing reviews
  • RFI responses, SI and CCN preparations.
  • Contractor`s change quotation reviews
  • Progress billing reviews
  • Fire alarm verification report reviews
  • Witness FAT and SAT
  • Able to work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the same
  • Sound judgment supported by excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering + a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in the engineering consulting industry, preferably in an industrial engineering group. Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
Preferred Requirements:
  • Familiarity with OESC,OBC, CSA, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry codes and standards
  • Experience in leading electrical designers and drafters
  • Experience in leading electrical project team designing electrical LV and MV power distribution systems including MCCs and motor control schematics
  • Knowledge and experience with Electrical load calculations and system studies with power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP
  • Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
  • Familiarity with providing guidance and support for others within a department
  • Analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities
  • Ability to communicate, coordinate, and work well with others both internally and externally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and commitment to technical excellence and quality
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Analytical, resourceful and detailed oriented
  • A good team player and decision maker.
  • Valid driver\'s license
  • Engineering knowledges and experiences with specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. tele-communication distribution, etc.) are desirable
  • Additional certifications such as PMP, LEED, LC, CEM, RCDD etc. are a bonus
  • Experience with addressing of value engineering approaches
  • Experience with IES energy modeling tool is desirable
  • Some Project Management experience and training desired.

  • Offered rate of compensation in will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $77,000 - $120,000.00
