Electrical Engineer – Technical Research & Publications

Our company is growing, and we are looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in power systems to lead our technical research initiatives and produce high-quality technical publications for both industry audiences and internal use. This role will initially focus on research and technical writing, with opportunities to contribute to product development as the role evolves.

Responsibilities:



Conduct technical research on power systems applications, emerging technologies, and industry trends Author technical publications including white papers, application notes, case studies, technical articles for industry journals, and conference papers Develop technical manuals, datasheets, and product documentation for external audiences Create internal technical guides and training materials for sales and engineering teams Design custom electrical diagrams and schematics for publications and technical documentation Organize and maintain a comprehensive library of technical literature and product data Collaborate with the engineering team on product development initiatives informed by research findings Stay current with developments in power transmission and distribution technologies Occasionally interface with customers to gather technical requirements and understand real-world applications Represent the company at industry conferences and technical events (occasional travel required)

Requirements:



Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's or PhD strongly preferred) Specialization in Power Systems 5 years of directly related work experience in power systems engineering

Exceptional English writing and communication skills

- this is critical for the role Strong knowledge of power transmission systems including FACTS devices, HVDC systems, STATCOM, SVC, and related technologies Strong knowledge of power distribution equipment such as transformers and switchgear Knowledge of industrial equipment including motors and drives is an asset Prior experience publishing technical articles, papers, or industry literature is a significant advantage Proficiency with electrical drafting and diagram creation tools Familiarity with power systems simulation software (PSCAD, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, MATLAB/Simulink) is beneficial Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible documentation

Preferred Qualifications:



Published author in industry journals or conferences Experience in the power resistor, transformer, or switchgear industries Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Power Systems or related field
