NSB Omega is searching for an Electrical Engineer for our MAJOR Utilities Client in St. John\'s, NL.Assignment Description
Provide professional electrical engineering support to the Project Manager;
Travel to various project sites regularly (typically monthly during times of ongoing construction work) to provide construction team support and project verification activities;
Prepare and review tender packages;
Prepare and approve electrical designs for the Client\'s scope
Review technical drawings and specifications developed by consultants to ensure submittals meet all of the Client\'s corporate and project requirements as well as applicable codes and standards;
Review tender bids for Electrical/Civil/Mechanical contract and participate in review and award of that contract;
Develop technical specifications for various electrical equipment;
Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scope of work;
Monitor all aspects of the project to ensure compliance with schedules and budgets;
Ensure all approved changes are communicated to the project team and reflected in the active project budget and schedule;
Ensure that potential impacts of project changes from cost, schedule, safety and quality/reliability perspectives are identified and communicated to the project manager in a timely manner;
Identify and respond to issues, implement timely interventions or escalate as required to ensure project outcomes comply with project and customer requirements;
Develop and review commissioning procedures;
Identification of materials required for successful project completion;
Ensure contractors adhere to the Client\'s Contractor Safety Management Plan;
Coordinate engineering activities related to assigned projects and provide technical input;
Assist with project closeout and asset assignment activities;
Participate in project risk register;
Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) through continual improvement and active participation in corporate HSE processes;
Ensure continual improvement is nurtured through lessons learned sessions, supporting innovative approaches and communication to other project teams;
Submit weekly timesheets to the Client for accrual and invoice backup;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
Electrical Engineering Degree registered with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) association and a minimum of 7 years experience;
Experience involving terminal station, transmission, and control structure work;
Experience involving high voltage equipment including power transformers, current transformers, current voltage transformers, circuit breakers and disconnect switches;
Experience in protection and controls would be beneficial;
Experience in project engineering for multidisciplinary scopes;
Experience working on industrial sites;
Excellent computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
Ability to work in a dynamic work environment;
Must have a valid Canadian driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with Government Drivers Abstract acceptable to the Client;
Valid training certification in WHIMIS 20215, Defensive Driving, Powerline Hazards, Emergency First Aid, Fall Protection, and Trenching and Excavating will also be considered an asset; and
Criminal records check that is acceptable to the Client.
