POSITION SUMMARY

As a Junior Designer Engineer, you will be accountable for completion of engineering design tasks and projects from concept to implementation in production. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings, & bills of material. Reports to the NPD Engineering Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Executes and completes Engineering design tasks and project assignments in support of prototyping/testing & product development activities per NPD product development processes.

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Coordinates own tasks to ensure deadlines are met per project schedule and applicable lead times. Includes maintaining task status, task progress and communicating risks to task scope change.

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Performs Engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable standards and regulations.

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Checks Engineering Documents, Instructions to Service, Shop Floor Instructions and other documents as authorized.

• Common Functions with other NPD Roles: o Responsible: Creation of Engineering designs that meet customer specifications, Technical Summaries, other contract documents and any applicable standards or industry best practices. Ensures designs meet performance, buildability, design efficiency and align with outlined design philosophy.

o Responsible: Completes controlled testing of components and system to meet contractual obligations, vendor requirements (SAA), ensure product reliability, performance and verify component fit.

o Responsible: Completes Engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures.

o Responsible: Interacts with suppliers (which may include end customer) on design-related issues during development that may require an end goal of Supplier Application Approval.

o Responsible: Performance of project design reviews.

o Responsible: Creates other technical documents such as instructions to service, Shop Floor Instructions as authorized.

o Supports: Documentation of the appropriate use of supplier\'s product for the application from review of supplier\'s requirements and intended operation and developmental discussions for fitness of use in the New Flyer product including Supplier Application Approval and any associated testing and customer configuration audits.

o Supports: Completes product launch integration to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support and other departments as directed.

o Consults: Product requirements and technical content are developed and maintained in accordance with specifications.

o Consults: Bid documents such as customer specifications, technical summaries, supplier quotations, approved equals. and others are reviewed for appropriate interpretation and compliance.

o Consults: Performance of applicable FMEA and Hazard Analysis exercises.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology

• \xe2\x80\xa2 1 - 5 years design experience, and demonstrate ability to achieve performance objectives and targets

• \xe2\x80\xa2 CAD Skills, MS Office Suite

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong written and verbal communication skills

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong organizational, problem solving and time-management skills

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Demonstrated ability to multitask and achieve performance objectives and targets, work efficiently in a high demanding fast paced work environment

• \xe2\x80\xa2 Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to work independently
