Overview
Our client is seeking an
Electrical Engineer
with experience in
marine and shipyard projects
to join their team on a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will support the design and execution of electrical power, control, and instrumentation systems on new vessel construction, including
Multi-Purpose Icebreaker (MPI)
projects.
This role involves working across all phases of shipbuilding projects, from requirements and design development through to construction support and close-out. Candidates must hold
E.I.T. status
and be eligible to apply for
P.Eng. within 2 years
, as well as meet requirements for
Reliability Security Clearance.
What You Will Be Doing
Prepare and execute
electrical design packages
, including Load Lists, Single Line Diagrams, Cable Diagrams, and Instrumentation/Controls documentation.
Conduct trade studies to evaluate solutions and reduce material costs.
Develop
material specifications and bills of material
in alignment with project and client requirements.
Support vessel construction by ensuring designs comply with technical specifications and marine standards.
Collaborate with integrated project teams to deliver large-scale shipbuilding programs.
Provide mentoring and technical support to junior engineers within the electrical systems team.
What You Need to Have
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
E.I.T. status
with eligibility to apply for
P.Eng. within 2 years.
Minimum
3+ years' post-graduate experience
in electrical, controls, and instrumentation engineering.
Heavy industry experience required;
shipyard or marine sector experience is a strong asset.
Solid technical and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex engineering issues.
Familiarity with
MRP, purchasing, and management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
Proficiency in
MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong commitment to
safety practices and compliance.
Additional Information
Must be a
Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Must be able to obtain
Reliability Security Clearance.
Onsite role at the
North Vancouver (Pemberton office)
- Lower Mainland candidates preferred.
Some travel may be required.
Compensation
Hourly Pay:
$43 - $52/hour (incorporated)
or
$35 - $42/hour (T4 term).
